HI-ALL I'm thinking to install the Borgeson steering box and saw a lot of threads. about it but some People buys the power steering so I took mine off and its on the bench .can I test it on the bench to see how good it is because it will save me a lot of money if I. don't need to buy one thanks for the help bob
I. took out power steering pump to paint and to check. if it was working. correct and I. had to. put in a new water pump and maybe a Borgeson steering box
I think the OP is asking if he can test his power steering if he has it on the bench.
OP, most likely your steering box is 'loose' and also the flexible coupler (picture below) is also loose. This is real common on C3's. You can remove it, put on the bench and 'feel' it for wear. If you rebuild your original steering box (steering gear) and replace the flexible coupler, your steering should be nice and tight (assuming ball joints and steering joints are in good condition). That is the cheapest way to have tighter steering. There are instruction on the internet, or the factory Corvette service manual. There are some people on this site who rebuild them also. Or you can install a borgeson, but that is going to cost you more and involve a lot more work.
I'm thinking he wants to bench test his power steering pump.
without special equipment to measure flow and pressure. At a specific RPM. Not certain how one would do this at home.
But then, Not certain why he wants to put jeep steering in his Corvette, but lots of people do it.

Before Borgeson, that was a retrofit some people did to get Saginaw-style power steering and ditch the ram/hoses. Maybe he's got one laying around....?? Borgeson pretty much improved the idea in a kit form.
