I'd check the frame for rust before going any further. Lotta Bubba cover ups in the pictures

The passenger side had the access cover. The car came with a ton of receipts when Bubba did a quote on quote restoration in 2000, I will do some reading to see if there are any clues.

Might just drill out the rivets and really get an idea what they did, plus if I decide to continue with this car I would figure out a way to do a better repair job.

At this point if I continue the body is definitely coming off the frame. I have the full RideTech coilover suspension setting in boxes in the garage plus new Wilwood brakes, new stainless lines, new wire harness etc… Also pulling the motor and trans, either to refresh or replace with modern power, haven’t decided. Anyways point is that the frame will basically be stripped besides the body so MIGHT AS WELL as the saying goes. And to your point I am not doing all this work and dropping all this money into a rusty POS. Unfortunately busy with holidays for the next couple weeks so not much digging will be done tell December.

Hey everyone, been awhile. Well I have been a little busy but I don’t think any of it is good news, but I am not an expert as previously revealed. When I pulled the front clip it was obvious that it was replaced for not a good reason. When I went to remove the body bolts the drivers side 2 was leaning to the outside. Got the body off the frame today and I think the bad news continues. Look at the pictures and please give me your opinion. Any advice as always is appreciated!

Interesting damage. I am no expert by any means, but I’m not sure how that would happen from an auto accident of any kind. Could that be from the birdcage getting pushed into the frame?Hmm??

I’m sure people with a lot more knowledge will come by and get you better info. Ike

I am with you, not an expert or a detective. Just hopeful that it can be fixed. If the metal can be fixed I can fix it, the body is another question.

I would recommend you conduct a full dimensional measurement of the frame to see where you are at. You can do this yourself by building a simple tram gauge. All the dimensions are readily available in the AIM.

That frame looks fairly rust free, that's a plus. You were able to unbolt the body bolts without cutting them, that's a plus. That leaning no.2 pad, does it look like factory welds? Or has it been rewelded? That rear side of that pad looks like the weld never penetrated the frame. I have no idea about the dents in the kick ups, looks like someone may have been in there with a pry bar for some reason.

Will head to Home Depot this morning and get the parts to build one. Will report back on what I find.

Looks like a factory weld. Does not look like weld penetrated on the right side. (Right being towards the rear). Also neither side was weld past the stitch in the frame.

So here are some pictures of what I found behind the left rear inner fender patch also what was under the left side under the front clip. My guess is it must have got smacked on that side and that’s what led to the replacement clips and 69 doors. I will start with checking frame dimensions like 69L88 recommended and report back. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into a 14k dump run!
