Hey guys, girls in the 77 Corvette where would be the best place to put a 12 inch subwoofer? I was thinking behind the seat passenger seat or may be in the middle of my six by nines in the back. What do you people think thanks.

I built a custom speaker box and installed a 10" sub mounted behind the seat. I had T-Top mounting brackets on my luggage rack as there was no room for them anymore behind the seat.
I got a pre-fabbed box and it has, I believe, two affordable 8" subs in it, and an affordable amp. Not sure how much volume you'd need for a 12. Speaker technology has changed since my mini truck days in the 80s when I had a Rockford Fosgate amp and two Punch 12s. I was surprised how hard those two 8s hit. And my T Tops will still fit back there. If you are interested, I'll try to find out where I got the box and what components I have.
Myself, I am thinking two powered under each seat. There are some reasonably sized that look like they would fit. Hoping somebody will chime in on how that worked for them.
Crutchfield shows 13 compact subwoofers. Summaries identify some of them as "fits under most car seats". At least 3 come in at 14" X 10" X 3". That's for an 8" woofer.
The floor has an indentation but I don't know its dimensions and I don't have an overall picture. These are a bit too pricey for Christmas and I will have to pull a seat to scope this out.
In a Mustang. My engine makes so damn much noise thats where I moved mine too.
I did the same thing. I don't even have a radio in the C3. Why would I need one to compete with the sweet V8 music? My whisper quiet Mustang has a great sound system. Unless the C3 is somehow your ONLY car, why not specialize in the things these cars are good for?
That said, there have been some clever subwoofer enclosure builds based around the rear jack compartment. If you don't have a spare tire, you don't need a jack.
Put a small sub behind the passenger seat. Believe it’s an 8 in. From retro sound. Nothing crazy, just enough to bring out the bass just a little.
Thanks for all the ideas. I had another idea. Has anyone ever tried to cut a hole behind the passenger seat. I’m thinking about going with a 12 inch sub. I know it would be a permanent cut but then I can put whatever size sub I want. Has anyone ever done that. Thanks again for your inputs

Then you'll need to find a place to mount this. If you just use the switch, it should fit between the power window switches of 77-82 cars without power mirrors. Or replace the defroster switch.

My son is going to build a monster system. He’s thinking about this. It’s only 500 watts RMS. We should be able to hear it. It will be kind of far away, about eight inches from our ears.
