My '80 C3 came to me with a line lock installed. With the body off the frame I have good access to it now and I'm debating whether to keep it, or not. The car used to be used for drag racing and I can see the use in keeping it, but now the only use will be to make lots of tire smoke.
I'm leaning toward ditching it, but wanted to see if there would be a compelling reason to keep it. If I sell the car would that add value?
Not sure what your plans are for the car, but IMO it would add a nice BACK IN THE DAY touch. Lots of people don't know what it is. But then I just added a C2 headlight door switch under the dash to compliment my electric headlight bucket conversion.
Keep-keep-keep. Never know when you need to do a massive burnout. Or hold your manual trans on a hill for you.
The line-lock will do nothing to tires unless the operator engages. Not hurting anything being dormant.
When I was in high school a buddy had a 1966 600 hp 'cuda with a line lock. First time I witnessed a line lock burn out I was hooked. I would LOVE to have a car with one. Keep it!
I can "Light em up" with no issues whatsoever without a line lock or putting a foot on a brake pedal.
in my humble opinion, a line lock is for an automatic car that needs help to make the owner look like a 12 year old.
Keep the line lock and put on a studder box. And, what's wrong with looking like a twelve year old? Only as old as you look. With my toys, I'm 69 going on 13.

No. Line-Locks are for the "bleach box" at the strip. And are used with automatics & manuals. The device keeps you from rolling out of the bleach box and rolling out at the starting line. Plus it saves a lot of wear & tear on the rear brake pads / calipers.
If you would go to the strip, you would see Super Stocks and Modifies w/ auto. They don't need any help heating up the tires.
Keep it… burnouts are both fun and educational. I like to educate the youth of today about the joys of burning gasoline and that carbon emissions are FUN. If I can just help one child understand that the internal combustion engine is good, then I feel I’ve done my job as a corvette owner.
all those dinosaurs didn’t give their lives for us to just drive Honda civics.

Keep ia and use it as a park8ng brake. I installed one on an old jeep just for that purpose. So much easier to use than a cable brake. Of course it matters which type it is and how it will work when the car is shut off.
Mine was all mechanical so no electricity was Needed
