Default Glove box

Can somebody tell me in a 1977 Corvette does the glove box go on top of the rear door compartment or does it go underneath ? I just bought a brand new rear door compartment and I forgot it’s a glove box right on top of it or underneath it and then I bolted it in. I think it went on top of the door compartment frame. Thank you.

I have a 77. I've owned it many, many years so hopefully I can help.
first off, 77's do not have a glove box. They have a map pocket. Later C3's have a glove box. In the rear storage area are 3 compartment doors. Far left is the battery compartment sealed with a foam strip around the door. Then there is a center storage compartment and far right is the jack storage compartment. In the jack storage compartment is a tray that sits on top. And is removable with the door open.
Is this the compartment you are referring to???
The center compartment has a cardboard box/tray that's is below the door frame and is not removable.
Is this the compartment you are referring to??
I am happy to take photos of my car. But just unclear as to what you need as a 77 never had a glove box.

The tray in the jack storage compartment, far right. Sits on top. So it is easily removable to access the jack and lug wrench/jack handle in the event of a flat.

I thought so, but I figured I’d ask. Thank you.
