I found someone in my area that has some used car parts for sale, original amfm acdelco cassette and also carburetor that he said would fit my 1980 L48 I would like to rebuild it if it is the proper unit for my car. Does anyone know what info I need to make sure this is the one that will fit my car. I know the carburetor on my car is the Rochester 4 barrel but don't know what size.

The carburetor he has has to have teh same base as yours or you will need and adapter plate...Rochester quadrajets are a spread bore with the 2 front barrels smaller than the rear. Holleys were mostly square bore with all 4 the same size although they did produce a few spread bores...you will have to get a part number or look at the carb from the bottom. Being a 1980 your rochestor may be an electronic carb and it may not be rebuildable...Lars says he doesnt do those but contact himn to be sure if you want to go that route

The 1980 Q-Jet is not computer controlled. Just post up the carb number you have on your car, and post the carb number of the carb the guy wants to sell you. All Q-Jets are the same size at 750 cfm, except for a few of the high performance carbs which were 800. Your '80 carb is 750. I would be very surprised if your buddy had a 1980 Vette carb... but give me the number and I'll tell you what it is.
