My question is, how likely is it that the information on a car incorrect?
the car I am looking at is International blue with black interior and the trim tag confirms, it is a 427 big block 390h that is numbers matching. However the owner states he has owned it for 20 years and the car has never been red like the Registry shows.
Paperwork is critical for proving a car, as is its history. past owners and the chain going back of people who owned the car are the best possible sources, however; this is hard to find.
For a big block car that is restored, it is very hard to tell becuase almost everty part has been replaced or redone. It can only be "counted", tallying up the numbers to see if they "match", but this does not mean its original.
All it means is that is has been corrected to original if the restoration was undocumented.
I would make sure the rear differential was a big block with good dates that match, the rear end caps and sway bar are present. Original engine stamp and transmission stamp can be authenticated as well by simply posting on the forum.
Most cars that look good and are undocumented should be purchased for "driver" money. If the price is good and its a car you will enjoy by all means get it!
International Blue is the best color...Good luck!
And feel free to PM me for any questions! 1968 cars are my thing.

It looks like a lot of the entries were made when someone is trying to sell a car. It is helpful when someone says “full frame of restoration in 2009” etc. but I’d still want to see proof of that.
My car already had a registry entry; it appears to have been made by a previous owner when he sold the car around 2015. I went ahead and updated the entry with new photos and information I got from the NCRS shipping data report. There isn’t any fact checking, however.
