Default decals

I went to a body shop yesterday in order to get some blemishes fixed. They declined saying that the decal on my front fender were not available any longer. Is there some place I could get the decals re made? It says limited edition on both front fenders. I only wanted a spot on the fender repainted and blend it into the existing black color. He told me that was not possible. He said he would need to repaint the entire front all over again. I suspect they have no idea what they are talking about.

'78, Pace Car?
I believe the decals are available but never checked -- have you looked at Paragon, Corvette Central, Zip?

I assume a PC or Silver Ann 78'
Phoenix Graphics has them.

That body guy either didn't want to do the job, so he made it seem like a big deal, or he's incompetent. Blending paint isn't necessarily easy, but isn't rocket science either.

The do sell the decals. Phoenix Graphics has sold me single pieces of decal sets when I needed to repair something and didn't need a full decal kit.

Body shops are no place to take a Corvette, or any collector car. Body shops are geared up to do collision work, and to turn it over quickly. Paint jobs and restorations are a waste of time for them, and are usually handled poorly by them. Find a Corvette or restoration shop and have them take a look at it.

Both Phoenix Graphix and Stencils and Stripes will sell you individual decals and stripes. You have to call and ask though, neither of them list individual decals on their websites.

I agree with you, but here's the problem with your statement. When I was looking to farm out some of the restoration work for my '69 vert, I started calling around. Every local Classic car/Corvette restoration shop I called within 200 miles of me is booked up for 2+ years.

The OP will discover this if and when he starts calling around, especially if they have a reputation for doing good work, so he may not have much of a choice. I was calling around during summer of last year, and I seriously doubt much has changed in a few months. The pool of qualified shops who actually know how to properly restore classics like these is getting smaller and smaller by the decade. There are several reasons for that, that you could start an entire thread on...
