Hello all, I am installing torq thrusts on my recently acquired 1969 corvette, the wheels rub against the brake calipers, I reached out to the wheel store and they say those are the wheels for C3, the car is unaltered yet the back of the spokes hit the calipers and will need to be spaced 1/4"
I don't feel I will have enough thread length and want to go a little longer with the studs like 2" or a bit more... having a hard time finding longer studs and frankly reading conflicting size, I know they are 7/16 20, and stock is 1.75 long, the knurl size
I'm reading .468, .475 and a few more, how specific does it need to be, I believe there is a little room to move in size with the knurled end, can anyone verify the stock knurl size and what I can use above and below that number.
There's a lot of guys running TT rims without changing studs... Before you get too deep, measure the backspace on those rims
Changing the studs can be a real pain on the rears and it the rotors are stiff riveted even more so.

You can also get extended barrel lug nuts that go deeper so they still engage the threads with spacers

thanks Mooser, that may be brilliant if that works, it would have to run into the hole in the wheel a bit, I will look to see if I can find those, I popped a stud out of the front pretty easy, there is an access area from the rear side of the disc to pull the stud out, will look into these lugs.
I don't understand it myself, I know there is no alterations on the car, I will check backspace tomorrow, thanks again
I read different knurl sizes so still looking for that conformation if it's known for sure
I'm confused. Just so I can understand please explain. If the wheels are for your c3, why is the backspace not correct? I think it's great that the tire store already has the spacers and nuts on the way to you but, are these the correct wheels or not or do they not make wheels with the correct backspace? I ask mainly because I really like those wheels but I just don't like spacers either.

well that's a great question and been asking the same all day. I found the wheel package online from "wheelsforless" as a C3 wheel package with correct 8.5" torqthrust and 255/60/15, if memory serves it was a 3.75 backspace but don't remember at the moment, will be looking it up and checking that actual backspace on the wheels tomorrow.
whan I bolted them on they rubbed against the calipers pretty hard, couldnt spin the wheels once bolted tight, I reached out to wheelsforless and they said they are the only wheels for that car and should fit... but they absolutely rub and need the 1/4" spacer.
I will check backspace on the wheel tomorrow for sure
Yeah that's not enough backspace for 8.5" width and a straight backed spoke. The spacer will be needed. Maybe TT classic?
M
The TT2 have a curved back that helps clear but 8 with a 4 "BS
I just looked at my order and it says 3.79 so not enough apparently, im ok with the 1/4 spacer as I love the look, I am getting tires mounted the rallies and will go back and forth but prefer the torq thrust look
The question is; is that all the seller had or is that all the manufacturer makes? Would be nice to know.
I am not sure what other options as I purchased as a package, looks good but does require the 1/4" spacer and lugs... made a nice difference in the look of the car.

backspace doesnt matter...you have non disc wheels...look at the spokes, yours are straight and they need to be curved. They should be torque thrust D's ...wrong wheels

Here’s a pic of TT II 18x8 4” BS. Plenty caliper clearance.
After installing these wheels, the rusty calipers are much more exposed. Considered painting them, but found they’re easy enough to clean off with brass-wire wheel, then coat with rust-preventative.
