Default 1982 mounts

Hi all,
I am not sure which mount need to be replaced, but when I shift for P to D mode it feel like the car "become lower" or drop down.
I don't have vibrations, noise or anything like that but I hate this drop each time.

Sounds normal, I'm assuming you are referring to the back end squatting a little.

I would agree you need to check the pinion snubber bushing. My '80 needed that. I also had a cracked leaf in my rear spring. You might not need to worry about that if you have the fiberglass monoleaf spring.

I was going over some old post after your feedback and it sounds like its describe my problem.
I also read that the 80-82 are different and much harder to replace than 79- . One person said it took him almost 6 hours to complete the work.
Does anyone recently done his Differential snubber bushing?

Automatic equipped C3 cars have been doing that since they were new. I always thought it looked cool. Like the car was getting itself good and ready for a road race.

Well, if you guys think that is normal I will save myself the trouble and 6 hours and repair other stuff.
I am just wondering if it can effect the differential in some way...

A thump is a snubber bushing, and should be repaired. You might have to pull the driveshaft or differential to do this. It's on my list when I swap the transmission.

Otherwise, the squat is normal. You can play around with the idle speed, and I think there is a vacuum modulator issue that exacerbates this.

Not in any adverse way. The rear squat is an idiosycracy of shifting into gear in C3 auto cars, quickly transferring load to the IRS, which is designed with your diff housing bolted to the frame. The amount of squat varys from car to car, as each C3 car differs at the margins.

Some pull down is normal, you need to check the snubber and determine if its worn. Your car is over 40 yrs old, if the snubber has never been changed and you have a lot of miles on the car, I would change it.
