69 ball vent knob

my 69 ball vent knobs are black. All pictures of 69 interiors i find have chrome knobs. I looked in the AIM and it appears the part number changed July 11th 1968. It looks like the first part was black and it changed to chrome dated before production. My car is a 10/2/68 build so basically on the line last week of September. all 69s are chrome, 68s did not have the ****, black I think started in 73

My 69 had black ***** and my car was built Feb14 1969.I know the earlier 69's had the chrome.

Sorry I thought you were talking about the console vent *****. My 69 did have the chrome vent ball *****
