also i tried rice in the tank.. don't.. PITA to get out.. marbles maybe..
- CLR/ vinegar, or try a dishwasher cleanout tab (the one the removes all the hard water etc..) hot water and brush what you can and soak for long time and see if that does it?
them maybe a bleach/ white wall cleaner like Wesleys to whiten further?

mine is stained on the outside. The inside isn't bad at all. I tried clr spray with no change as well as tilex with bleach and even dawn powershot with no luck. I'm afraid there is no way to bring the original color back although im open to try anything at this point as right now my only option is to replace it. 😕

Scub & clean it best you can. Go to a hair product store (Amazon also) and buy Salon Care 40 or 50. Put the washer bottle in a plastic sealed clear bag after spreading all over the outside and inside. Soak it down. Seal up, place outside and let it sit in the direct sunlight for a couple of days. Rotate as needed.
Replace the old stained plastic reservoir with one of these from DeWitts Radiator.
The one in the picture is a 68-72 Surge Tank, but DeWitts also manufactures an identical reservoir for our 73-82’s.
They are a special order, so call and ask for John.
The 68-72 surge tank is pressurized however the 73-82 reservoir is not pressurized and works just like those nasty plastic tanks.
I have one for my 73 and it mounts in the same location and uses the 68-72 straps and hardware.
I posted a thread a couple of years ago regarding this same issue.
The new model reservoir will work on any C2 or C3 where you don’t want a pressurized tank.
I’ve seen some videos about this method of reversing the yellowing on old computers, not sure if it would work on the coolant tank but might be worth a try:
Both the bottle and filler tube are available new and not expensive. You won’t get that anywhere like new.
The configuration of the bottle that was being reproduced is different from the original. The filler tube may or may not fit snugly either depending on who you get it from.
I bought a repro washer tank and filler neck, as well as repro coolant resevoir more than 10 year ago and no leaks, and no yellowing as my originals had. Maybe the quality has deteriorated than much in the time since I bought mine, but if it were me, I'd be willing to give repros a try.
