Default My First C3

I purchased my first Vette today and I have some questions.

There are open vac lines connected to this piece but I am unfamiliar with what it is. It looks like the speedometer cable goes into this.

I know this is a mess! This car was sitting and mice had a lovely nest here. The blower motor works but the door seems to be stuck. I thought I should be able to push and pull on the door to get moment but it seems stuck. There is also a tiny vacuum line connected to nothing. Any idea where this one goes.

Looks like this car was desmogged at one time and I am hoping this is all just left over. Any help would be great. Off to start ordering parts....

Looks like you have a early-mid year production 1977...
I base this on the alarm key is in the front fender & you have the cross flag emblem.
Very early 1977 had no cross flag emblems...
Your first photo is the Cruise Control Transducer.
3 manuals I suggest you purchasing.
The 1977 Assembly manual
The 1977 Corvette Electrical Troubleshooting manual
And the 1977 Chevrolet Passenger Service manual Green Cover...
Here is the Cruise vacuum circuit I colored in from the Assembly manual.
The Cruise Control option was new for the 1977, there are many 1 year only parts so be very careful working on any of it...

The 2nd photo looks like the fresh air or outside air intake door.
There is vacuum actuator bolted to the inside of that plastic door.
That vacuum line should be green or green/black in color if you clean it.
As you can see from a photo in 1977 Service manual Green Cover (Manual Air Conditioning Section) the vacuum line travels through the fire wall to a tee, one leg of the tee goes to the vacuum switch, one leg (now a orange vacuum line) goes to another actuator.
You should ONLY have vacuum to both actuators when the slider lever on the HVAC control panel is in the MAX A/C position.
See the must in owning at least these 2 manuals...

Yes that door only moves on Max air. Yes I have a 77 as well. Although I've had mine a tad longer.
Anyway, welcome to the forum.
Enjoy your new to you wonderful car!
77's are the best!

Unless your L48 with A/T transmission was designated to California or to a High Altitude area it will NOT have a air pump.
A better photo of the engine compartment is needed to determine "if" or what other possible emission items have been removed or not...

Congratulations on your purchase. If you live in CA be prepared to deal with their emissions crap as a 77 will require a smog test.

I won’t own anything newer than 75 for ‘fun’ cars, used to run a lot of Italian iron from the mid to late 70s and just got tired of dealing with emissions.

Welcome and best of luck!

Welcome aboard! For a "classic" car Corvettes are pretty painless to own. Lots of parts available, and lots of knowledge.
