Original Owner 73 Corvette
I am helping my neighbor attempt to sell his Corvette.
He is the original owner and the car is pretty nice.
350/auto
It has 120K miles on it but the engine was replaced at 100K (original engine available)
Transmission was redone at the time.
Fresh paint in 2007
New Tires and battery.
He has the original window sticker and all maintenance records from the 90's
He has had the car for sale a while between 35K-33.5K and has no action on the car.
I know he is somewhat emotionally attached to the car.
I know the reason good cars do not sell is usually price related.
I am posting this to get an idea of what is the car really worth and what price range will get this car some activity.
When I get an idea I will also post it on our forum.
Thanks
Matt

I have interest in this car, but will have to know if the trim tag is on the A pillar as shown in the picture posted by 71 Green 454. Painted-over is ok.
I've sent you a pm about the car.
Thank You.

Good looking car and, as usual, much good advice from all the guys here. You're doing the right thing by posting and asking on this forum. There is a mountain of knowledge and it's all free for the asking.
If your pal is asking the absolute top of the market price, his ad can never have the words "except for". Every single button, switch, light and accessory has to work as designed. Any that don't are just deductible excuses.
So, that being said talk with your pal and see how the car really measures up:
Does the A/C blow ice cold?
Does the clock work?
Does the cigarette lighter work?
Do all the interior lights come on when you open the doors?
Does the rear compartment light turn on when you open the cover door?
Do the windshield squirters work?
Has the front and rear suspension ever been done or is it all (or mostly) original?
Is the underneath as clean and nice as the top side?
Any fluid leaks or weeping?
Do all the gauges and dash/exterior lights work?
Do the headlamp doors pop up clean, evenly and quickly?
Does the factory alarm work at all three armed points?
Any cracks in the e brake console?
Is the weatherstripping still supple or is it dried out and cracked
The pictures are very limited and don't show much detail but just a few things are still obvious, Fifth digit of the VIN is a J which means this is the base engine L-48, nothing wrong with that but it's certainly not an enhancement for the price. Seat bottoms are stretched out and underlying foam is shot. Carpet issue right in front of driver's seat corner? Under hood is crying for a good detail.
You see? There are a million little things that an owner no longer notices but a new owner will have to repair, and they add up quickly $$$. At $35K I would expect the car to be "show car ready" inside, outside and underneath.
If that trim tag does happen to be missing, you can expect a pretty severe hit on that.
There is much here to like, the color combination is very good, the deluxe interior is a plus, all the attached documentation is a bonus and I personally have a real soft spot for '73's. But it needs to be priced with a cool head, not with your heart.
Every single car is sale-able no matter the condition and, as you already know, there is only one reason any car will not sell.
Kudos to you for trying to help your buddy out and good luck with the sale.
Cheers, Greg

Those are good points
I think he realizes now that he will need to reduce the price if he wants to sell the car.
