Hi folks.
Anyone done this type or similar Lazy eye headlight "upgrade" on a C3..?
My C3 is a mild restomod & not matching numbers -73 convertible, and I might be looking in to something for the headlights.
IF I win the lotto I would go with equal size "bulbs"...of course since I have night vision like an owl, I've never had a problem with lighting.
I WILL do the headlight wiring relay mod just for fun/safety, though.
I've seen a few done, and it looks pretty cool. They usually use 2 cubes or 1 rectangular led lights per side. Just looking at the assembly, it shouldn't be hard at all to limit the travel of the headlight door assembly. Just gotta figure out the mounting points for the new lights.

Actually I think it would be a bit of a challenge. C3 headlight mechanisms are designed to go “over-center” at full opening, so they will stay open on their own without vacuum. I don’t know if that’s achievable at partial opening.

You could pretty easily limit the travel, especially if you're converting to an electric setup. I wouldn't go through with converting to sleepy eyes and keep the vacuum setup.
Great idea!
I really like this setup you show here, Richard.
Do you know who makes this and will it work well with the electric setup I bought from you?
Thanks for answering the question as to where C3 owners can find this product. I'd offer more to say, the the CF moderators are pretty strict on what 'businesses' can say. Shows how often I'm on CF... I never saw the thread start from 5/3/23. Happy to report that my patent filing was finalized recently.

Reason: spacing issues
None of these alterations look at all attractive. Take a look at the "Green Mamba". One could imagine a reveal by tilting the headlight door down in back to expose the lights there. Probably more aerodynamic too for what that's worth.
I just got started making some, I need to make some shrouds, but this is the prototype so far…
How did you adjust the height of the lid? When I adjusted mine down to the height I like, it closes too low or the electric actuator won’t spin properly and gets stuck.

You are changing the throw- the length of the arm needs to be changed.

Not if the Chinese knock it off...just sayin
Are you referring too the bracket that’s attached to the motor? (bottom arrow). Or the adjustable eye bolt (top arrow)? I adjusted the top one, even cut it to shorten it so there is less travel hoping to shorten it opening. But when I did it, I guess the rotation was limited not allowing the bracket (bottom arrow) rotate at a full spin. Maybe I did it too short. Please confirm which one to work with. Thank bro
