Put new precision pump in from o’reilly’s and could not get a good idle.
Checked pressure and this i get 14psi after cranking for 15 seconds ( engine did not start). This is a 1969 3x2 and front and rear are disconnected. Still runs with both mixture screws all way in. Is this a faulty pump or do i need a regulator which
original pump did not need?
I replaced my fuel pump last year with a Carter on a base 350 with QJet. Pressure was at 9.5 with engine running. QJets need around 5-7. Had idle issues caused from venturi nozzle drip. I could see the drops when looking down the primaries when engine was idling. You could have similar issues. 14 is high! Had to add an inline fuel regulator. Was not happy about that. I liked my stock fuel line setup. Apparently too much pressure on replacement pumps is an issue. I didn't feel like swapping multiple fuel pumps to get one that had a normal pressure rating.
