I had a set of keystone classics on a 1974 Z-28 years ago, loved those wheels, and didn’t even realize they still make them, but see they do,and would love to put some on my car, these are 15 inch of course, and these are 10 inch wide, back spacing is 4.125,and offset is -36.00,so would these fit on the rear with 60 tires. And hopefully find some 8 or 9 inch for the front.
Yea bs 4.125 and I do have little spacers 7/16,so I do have a little to play with, but you don’t know till you actually put it on then, hope it’s correct.
Are you talking about the keystone classics wheels? Those are some of the ugliest wheels I have ever seen! Why would you possibly want those on your Corvette?
At one time, JC Penneys was trying to go "head to head" with Sears, even including auto centers. I was in the market for a set of wheels, back in the mid-70s, and my best friend, who was an assistant manager at one of the local Penneys stores, said he could get a set of the Keystone Klassics for me, through their auto center, at a decent discount. So I gave him the "go for it" signal, and they got ordered.
Imagine my surprise, as apparently as a way to differentiate the "Penneys Keystones" from the "speed shop Keystones", the Penneys wheels had silver "bolt pockets", rather than the traditional black. At first I was taken aback by this, but what could I do, as my buddy pulled some strings to get them for me. But after I had the tires mounted up, and put them on the car, they really grew on me.
I remember them, they looked good on some cars like a Pontiac or a Buick and some Mopar but never rang my bell on a Chevy, and Fords didn't deserve them LOL...
oh come on...I had a 66 mustang and they would have looked great on it.....Not all mustang guys are DBs
I was just kidding based on the Ford / Chevy rivalry of my yute... (60s-early 70s) and I think its hard to find someone today who does not like a 67-8 stang.... But I have to say, the last part of your quote would have been debated by the Camaro owners of that period...lol ... and those wheels would have looked terrible on a 69...(Yeah I'm a camaro guy!)
For the record: Back in the '70's I had (and still have) my '72 Mustang equipped with a set of Keystone Klassics, (7" in the front & 8" in the rear), the best looking wheel every made! B.T.W., here in the South the Klassics were more often seen on the Fords & Mopars, Chevy's most often had Cragar SS's; this to the point where many here considered the SS's as being 'the' Chevy rim, Fords being more of a Torque Thrust customer; but those of us with 'class' ran the Klassics.
Very cool. I've never seen that subspecies of Klassics before. The tires are even sweeter!
That picture is from the summer of 1976. In those days, 'Car&Driver' magazine used to conduct their famous "tire comparison tests", and the Super Prowler was a "dark horse" competitor that scored very well in the competition. I had a couple of sets of them, back then, and liked them a lot.
