My father owner of this Corvette of 40+ years just recently gave me his 71 Maco shark. Back in the day this car was really cool, I still think it's a wild looking Corvette.
My question.. is there away to tell if this is one of John Silva made cars?
Notice how the t-roof follows the contour of the back window.
Holy hell that Vette is cool! Idk how to confirm the JS made cars, but am curious to find out.
That car is awesome, and I hope you get years and years of enjoyment out of it. It'll be a hit at any show, cruise in, cars and coffee, or just going down the road.
wilbur, you should contact the fellow in John's link, he seems to know quite a bit about the Makos, he might be able to give you some in depth info on yours.

Good idea, I just did and thanks for the link John!
I didn't know the original at the NY auto show was a "clay" car. Looked pretty good - I guess that suggests just how old I am. that was my college graduation year.
Alot of Fiberglass kits were offered back then but Silva & Motion were the biggies in the 70's and Bohannon in '74 on. Here is some more data to help identify the car. I would check under the hood scoop and look at the seam. This will tell you if it has been reglassed here for the current scoop covering a closed squar Silva type twin bump out. Since many of these kits were sold to an owner, many made changes to further make the kits their own.
" It didn’t take long for those who had the resources and the passion to realize that there was a market for providing these Mako Shark enthusiasts with the Corvette of their dreams. Many people got into the business of molding bodies for purchase, but some of the most successful customizers from the start include Joel Rosen of Motion Performance, John Silva, and Bohannon Concepts. . . "
Here is a few to check out First is factory Motion / Silva, next one custom by Marc who runs the Maco2 site above. Check the owners listings for similar cars also.
Next up is a vintage designers viewpoint, Concourse Show and Lastly (wait for it. . .) Step by Step Maco Paint walk through by the legendary Gary Kupfer in Long Island !
