Looking for help from the experts. I have a recently purchased barn find 1968 Corvette code 900 black car that was repainted black sometime in its past. The rear exhaust panel was replaced at some point with a 69 panel that does not include the correct reverse light cutouts. I am trying to put it back to stock. I purchased a replacement panel off EBAY that is marked P/N 3919652 ( also has 48571 on it). However when I tried to fit it tonight, something is off (see picture). I think someone modified my quarter panels with 70-72 square exhaust tip sections at some point? The tail light lenses in the car are also dated from 1971 which is why I am thinking that somebody did a swap. Am I correct or do I have the wrong exhaust panel? Thanks in advance
My '68 basket case project had a similar problem.
I learned how to do fiberglass work and converted a '69 exhaust panel I had stored away into a '68 panel (without exhaust openings).
I cut openings for back-up lights (you already have that problem solved).
I filled in the rectangular openings because I had side pipes.
I could have formed '68 exhaust openings but there was no need to do so.
It looks as though you will have to do some fiberglass work.
This may be what someone grafted onto your car.....or they modified the rear part of the quarter panels...like you said.
This is the same piece that I grafted onto my '68...then I filled in the seams and the rectangular openings
You will need to remove the existing lower exhaust panel and install your Ebay panel...then modify the rectangular openings to be round openings. You will not need to fill in the seams like I did.

if you can find exhaust panel rear fender pieces left and right side, then map out how much you have to graft
your left and right rear 1/4 end is cut out to a 70 up to 73 style
you will need the curved left and right side rear fender bonding strips
the bonding strips will hole and clips to attached for the exhaust chrome bezel which attaches to it
if you need rear back up 68 reverse lights I have a left and right side
hope this helps
