I forget exactly but recall that there is a slider track on the underside of the console's top plate. I believe the long slotted slider is topmost from the driver's viewpoint with the small slotted slider underneath that, closer to the trans tunnel. I don't recall how the side cut-out on the long slider is oriented, but tend to think it's toward the driver.
Edit: Here are two different eBay pics, you can see that the clipped corners of the large slider point to the front of the car, so that would place the slot on the driver's side.
