Main cause for headlight warning switch failure?
Is it the small tabs on the sides that hold them together? I looked at one that had broken tabs,so I took the he other one out and fixed at the same time. My fix all JB Weld did the trick.

Most of the ones I've seen that were intact and not working had one side tab broken off and were partially opened up but I've also seen lots with a tab broken that are still working fine. But I think I've seen way more with the switch broken off at the threaded stud than intact-not working ones...
anytime I do any work closer to the headlights that the rear bumpers I unbolt the switches and get them safely out of the way in a different spot/garage/city
