Heater core bypass
Can I just cap off heater core,I think I have a leaking heater core,or did at some point,I don’t have the hoses hooked up to manifold, because fuel line is in the way of hose,so when I did new heads, intake, carburetor replacement,I never did hook either of the hoses back,so don’t have the one going to the water pump either, question, does those hoses need to circulate through properly or can I just not worry with hooking hoses to heater core, and disregard it. Thanks

The clean, neat and tidy way is a pipe plug in the intake deleting the hose barb. And a pipe plug in the water pump deleting the other hose barb.
None hoses.
None hose barbs.
DONE.

That’s what I have now, plugs in intake and water pump, but will that have any way effect circulation water to engine, and I do have AC will it have any issues with that,In SC, I can deal without heat, you got to have AC here.
There may be some flavor of big block Chevy that requires the bypass. Not for an SBC, though. Plugs work. Many of us drill a tiny hole in the thermostat to release air bubbles and ensure some flow at all times.
That Dorman adaptor is plastic. I had a similar piece crack as I was inspecting it. Good thing I was there. Getting rid of plastic bits and unused hoses is a great way to improve reliability. Someone should tell BMW.

I live in tropical Queensland Australia. We run the air-con in winter here. Absolutely no issues with plugging off the lines to the heater core. It's there to make heat for the cabin. Nothing else.
Absolutely no need to worry about engine cooling or your Air-con. The heater core is a add on to make heat inside the cabin. Nothing more.
