Default Note to 71 Green 454

You have mentioned that you are selling your long-owned 71, this week I believe. You also mentioned in a post that you would then no longer be posting on CF. I just wanted to say thank you for a lot of help along the way. You have been very active on CF and, from what I've seen, always been helpful with a positive tone. There are several very helpful members who regularly provide guidance here with lots of experience. I hope you'll still stop by occasionally. Who knows, maybe you'll change your mind and keep it, or get another. I know you'll miss your beautiful car but wish you well in your endeavors! Best, Paul

After being a C3 owner for 50 years, 2 with a '69 L46 Coupe and 48 with my '71 LS5, it was time to sell. I have never taken either Corvettes to a shop for repairs, always performed my own maintenance. I'll be 73 this year and selling it was the right thing to do.
I was getting ready to post a for sale thread on the forum and out of the blue I was contacted by someone that wanted the car. After a 5 minute conversation it was sold.
Now that I don't own a Corvette, I don't think it's right to give advice any longer....that's just how I feel. After being a CF member for 17 years, it's going to be hard to not at least lurk to see what's going on. Heck, it's been a daily routine for me during my 21 years in retirement.

So last night at 11:30, I parted ways with my Corvette. She was loaded up and heading north. Walking out to the garage this morning and not seeing it sitting there was a weird feeling, but life goes on.
Thanks again Paul, wishing you the best.
Dave

That is too bad, I made the mistake of selling my 67 coupe when was young and regretted it as soon as I saw it drive away. But you know what's right for you. I will say you have been one of the most logical guys here, clearly capable of doing your own work on the car. Hope you stick around, you don't have a vette but you have more experience than many here and I'm sure that knowledge would be respected.

Hey Dave, I appreciate the kind words and update. Had to be hard after so many years. I'm not far behind you age wise and have made lots of changes in hobbies, etc. I used to go diving all over the world but that changed a few years ago so I moved to other hobbies that can be more inclusive of family members as we have grandchildren that we REALLY enjoy doing things with. Boat, RV to take them camping, fly fishing, etc. I occasionally toy with the idea of selling our '68 L71 as I don't drive it that much - - but it still puts a big smile on my face and I just can't do it. Yet.

Wishing you well and please keep in mind that just because you don't (currently) own a C3 you still have a ton of knowledge to share. I started this thread because we've had a few great members who got away before anyone could thank them for all of their help. There are several members, yourself included, who I wish I could meet in person some day. Anyway, wishing you the very best as you move to the next chapter of hobbies! Paul

I am also sorry to see you go as I always appreciated your insight and knowledge. I’m not far behind you age wise and my LT-1’s days are probably numbered too. Out of curiosity did it go to a forum member?

Sad to see you go, Dave. The forum is losing a valuable asset today, which sux, but c'est la vie, sometimes. I've learned a thing or two from your posts, so thank you, and fare thee well.

I will miss your threads sir. Always entertaining to click in on your projects. Hope you continue to participate again after the shock of selling your car wears off.
