Hi,
Put new engine in and too high for stock 1971 hood. Probably need 2 inches. L88 style retaining wiper door? Any suggestions/recommendations for vendors, etc?
Outside of Toronto, Ontario Canada, so access to "close by" vendors helpful.
Thanks,

STUFF that idea Derek. Go fast! Install a hood to cover it!
Plus, a high rise hood looks tough as well!
Go faster! Look better!
Win, Win!
(and this is my ACI hood)
Personally I can't think of a bigger bore than the ill fitting L88 hood on an early C3. Stock or full custom, no other choice. Buy a cheap used hood and get creative, the biggest obstacle is getting it to look good with the wiper door, hence the "ill" fitting L88. Full length is mandatory for a custom hood that looks right on these cars. I have a 70 BB, nothing I have seen even comes close to looking better than stock on these cars. L88's are too rare to be considered "stock" imo, factory custom to resolve a problem inelegantly.

not to steal this thread but I have a question. Is that a ACI custom hood or did you make it yourself? what does the underside look like? Im kind of interested
ACI is top quality and what I have on mine....I used an Ecklers airbox and recommend that highly.....bonding in the airbox makes the hood twice as strong as far as flexing......
The other guys have a good point though.......what intake did you use? What engine? If it is a small block....lately I have been using the Performer EPS and I cut the divider down on it......it will support 450+ horsepower......the 2101 Performer will support 400hp......
Good catch ignatz! was planning to but decided to go crate engine. Supplier in Vancouver B.C. Built one with roller cam, vortec heads, etc. Says he's sold 17 to c3 owners over the past 24 months, no issues. i figure they switched intake supplier/model.
So looking for hood. Previous post suggested ACI. Seems to have good rep. 4-5 hour drive from home. I mean who wouldn't want to go to Toledo in the summer?
Thanks,
