Default A little block trouble

I pulled my SBC out of 80 c3 and think i might need to replace this block. My question is will there be a difference in crank shaft from my 2 bolt main if i put it in a 4 bolt main?

Why do you think you need to replace the block? Your pictures appear to be focused on the casting flash at the bottom of the cylinder. If that is your concern, blend it out as it is not affecting anything.

Amazing that they still hadn't figured out how to avoid core shift by 1980.

I've looked over your photos a couple times now. Can't understand your issue. But if you really want a new block. Your crank will fit. Will need a polishing and correct fitment of main bearings. But will fit.
seems like a lot of money for a OCD issue.

His “issue” is casting flash which 5 minutes with a die grinder/Dremel will solve.

Shermas81c3, you can see that the piston barely touches this area by the very clean cross-hatching marks on the cylinder wall. Go with the advice above and blend to remove the burrs that could get knocked off and so it's not a knife edge.

This same question came up l;ast year with the same responses. There is no difference from a 4 bolt to a 2 bolt in the bearing area. You can i nfact drill a 2 bolt to make it a 4 bolt. Today they splay the mains for more strength. AS for your block as was stated above, clean off the burrs and you are good to go. the rings marks are 2 inches up the cylinder and that is where you have to worry.
