electrical problem
I have a 69 coupe 300 hp a/c car. The problem I have is that when I try to adjust the dash lights or turn on the courtesy lights, the parking lights come on. If I turn down the courtesy lights the parking lights go off. Also the dash lights come on with the ignition switch. When I turn on the ignition the dash lights come on I can not adjust the dash lights with the headlight switch.. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Usually a loose ground wire under the dash causes these problems...the voltage goes to all the wrong bulbs.
If you have a tilt-tele steering column, some wires could be pinched inside the column.

I'm thinking I'd start at the headlight switch. Try jumping wires once switch is disconnected and see what happens. Then go from there.

For these types of electrical issues, I always look at the wiring diagram for help. Is there a common component that all the faulty circuits traverse? I don't have the diagram in front of me now, but as someone replied earlier, maybe the headlight swx would be a good place to start.
