Those rust spots are indeed repairable. It may be more than you can handle since it will require welding and replacement to do it right. Chances are, that rust you see is the tip of the rust iceberg.

Having said that, you definitely need to remove all the glass, and fiberglass away from the weld area.

That means stripping the car and lifting the body. It isn't as difficult as you may think. You can lift the body off in the garage with Jacks, and place stands under the body.

I have done this several times. You can strip the car down and get all the replacement pieces then have a welder come in and do the job. It will save you a lot of money.
