Hi fellow Vette enthusiasts. Can anyone confirm or correct an issue I have with the connection of vacuum to/from the carburetor. Background - I have a 72 with a 350 and a Rochester carby and live in Australia so I do not have access to another Vette for comparison. The issue I want to sort is that the front of the carby vacuum connection where does it connect to? I assume the carby connects to the vacuum cannister via the "White" stripped hose. See attached photo and diagram, confirming it is the front hose connection that I am trying to determine if I have done it correctly.
Thanks in advace.
Couple things. First. Before I even read your post I looked at your profile to see where you where from.
Only an Aussie would call it a carby. Then I read your post. Yup, didn't need to check your profile.
The vacuum line to the vacuum canister should be the line with the filter and check valve coming off that fitting in the rear of the intake manifold.
As per the line with the white stripe, I blew up the photo and it looks to be a dead end. The vacuum line off the front of the carb gets lost in the spaghetti of hoses near the brake master. Can't follow it.
And most importantly, there are thousands of C3's over here to look at. Check out the runs and events thread. Look at my most recent posts. 110 Corvette's at one show in SE Queensland.
Have you been to the Corvette nationals here?
The two lines from the front of the carburetor go down to the "charcoal canister" which is "down under" the vacumm storage can tucked under the drivers fender, (sorry couldn't help myself)
They go to the left two pipes there, the last pipe is the one that goes back to the gas tank
The vacuum system that runs the wiper door and headlights etc
Had me laughing from the get go, cheers for response. Theres not "Thousands"to look at in NSW-Newcastle and the corvette club has been very unhelpful when I posted this question, not 1 reply.
Currently away in SA at the moment so will look when I'm home next when I may need to pick your brain a little more & ask for some photos of another setup if possible.

Where is your distributor vacuum advance hose hooked up to? I don't see it at all. In stock configuration, it should be hooked up to the "ported" vacuum nipple on the forward, left side of the carb's float bowl. It is not... But for better performance, it should be hooked up to one of the carb's manifold vacuum ports, which I also don't see. Do you have your vacuum advance hooked up at all...? It's essential for good idle, good throttle repsonse, and good fuel economy. Whatever hose you have hooked up to that "ported" nipple should not be on the "ported" source - it should be manifold vacuum.
...And please don't call it a "carby" unless you want to be called a "girly-man."
(Not that there's anything wrong with that...we will all appreciate your tender, feminine side)
Well Lars, it's an Aussie thing. They don't have shock absorbers or shocks. They have "Shockys" they don't have a carb, it's a Carby. And it goes on and on. If they can put a "Y" behind it. They do.
thus when I seen the title of this thread I instantly thought, Aussie.
Not girly man.

I'm well aware of the Aussie thing with that, and I also know what a "dizzy" is... And since you've lived in the States, you're also fully aware of the initial perception most people would have of a guy calling those parts a "carby," "dizzy," and a "shocky." Just want to make sure the aussie guys are aware of the inital stigma associated with a guy using those words... it's funny here on the Forum, but it could work to their disadvantage in conversations with some Americans...

Yes it's funny stuff. I think we both let him know we don't call them carbys in America. Funny stuff. And it goes both ways. I take some ribs once and awhile for the things I say over here.
