Default 69 bb vert interior opinion

I have a 69 vert , 435 hp with side pipes. Original colors were black with gunmetal gray interior. When it was restored by previous owner in the 90's, he converted to red interior. Looks great. Who doesn't love black and red?

I've been researching black with gunmetal, and it appears that this combination is extremely rare. I'm thinking of changing it back. I put new door panels on last year and dash and console are in great shape. I'd probably try to dye those and just replace seat covers and carpet.

Thoughts?

Are you selling it? Are you hankering for a little spice in your life and think a color change would be fun? Do you just want to spend a little money on the ole girl and think this would satisfy her? Are you just simply bored and want to do something? You just have to ask yourself why do you YOU want to change something on your car if you arent looking to sell it. If you want to do it do it. Personally I think the black and red would look ten times better because they contrast so much. 2 dark colors are going to look gloomy to me. I like it when they pop...But thats what I like...Its not my car its yours.

If you want to change it just to do it, have fun, its part of owning a hobby car like this. If you want to do it because it will be worth more to that one guy that looks at how many cars were built with this option or that option and your estate can sell it to him when your dead...then go for it

Some truth to the above. What do you like? It's your car! Value be damned. I don't know about you. But for myself one day my Sons can fight over my car.
originality be damned. It's my car.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the red and will probably keep it. If it was a lighter gray like Chevy used in later years, I'd probably switch because it would still give a good contrast.

Yeah, that’s a very desirable car. Black/black, black/red, and black/gunmetal are probably tops on my list of color combinations. Others would agree.

Sounds reasonable… People like what they like.

I've been researching black with gunmetal, and it appears that this combination is extremely rare. I'm thinking of changing it back. I put new door panels on last year and dash and console are in great shape. I'd probably try to dye those and just replace seat covers and carpet.

Black/gunmetal is rare (and desirable), but I’d leave it alone. You like the car black/red, it sounds as if you recently made some door panel repairs, and the rest of the interior sounds like it is in good shape. In my opinion, dyed interiors never look original anyway (the look is too monotone while the original look has a mottled effect). Leave the interior change for the next owner. If it was me, I’d be more concerned with the documentation on the car (with the current interior color far down on the list).

Regards,

Stan Falenski
