Default Remove screw under dash?

Hi everyone

I'm installing a 'Delete Airco'-heaterbox.
There is a screw that comes from under the dash, but before I remove the LH dash panel, I want to make sure that there isn't another way to deal with this screw.
(I really hate taking the dash apart.)

Is there another way to fasten that side of the heater box by using the end of the screw sticking out the firewall?
A special type of nut that fits on the pointed end of e screw?

You ABSOLUTELY need air-con in these cars. they are a bloody hot box without it!
Also pulling apart the right hand side of the dash in a 77 is child's play compared to most cars.
You must really hate pulling that map pocket.
And in answer to your question. You Need to pull that dash apart if your changing your heater box.

I have no need for airconditioning, and can drive my 77 in 90 degree weather. Its summer. T-tops off, windows down 95% of the time....the joy of open car driving. All I have on my interior is two coats of Lizardskin and factory firewall insulation. Uncoated stainless headers in the engine compartment. No problem. As long as you are moving....the wind takes all the heat away. And AC in these cars just clutters up the engine compartment and more junk to maintain. I have no interest in driving my 77 with the windows up and AC on.......would take all the fun away.

But people are different......

To the OP question....I am afraid you will just have to pul the right side panel......I have pulled mine without taking anything else apart....so at least its not on the left side!!!

Is that the only screw causing you fits? Perhaps a T-nut, turned around, with the splines cut off would work? Or a threaded standoff stud, and drill a bigger hole in the AC delete cover.

I had my dash apart when I did my AC delete.

Some people also don't live in Queensland in the summer. Humidity makes a big difference.
