Default Paint vs wrap

Has there been a recent thread on paint vs wrap ? I searched and didn't see one.

If not ... has anyone evaluated one versus the other ? If so can you pass along what you learned ? Pics if possible ? If you chose to wrap, did you also choose to have PPF applied ?

Thanks

One downside with a wrap is with paint you can buff out scratches. If your wrap scratches you have to re-wrap that panel.

From what I've read the surface under the wrap has to be flat and pit free because the wrap will show all bad spots just like paint.

I've see a few great wraps here locally in iridescent colors that would be very difficult to duplicate with paint. I would really consider trying a wrap for a few years just for something different and fun. I think they could do a Corvette for $2-$3K.

on average 4-5 years, and body has to be straight, any waves, cracks, etc will show through.

My understanding is that PPF helps protect against that. And, a heat gun can be used on PPF to work out some scratches. But I'm sure another layer of material is close to double the cost. However I need PPF anyway, at least in the vulnerable places, so I view it as cost for both paint and wrap.

That's kind of the way I look at it. I understand it preserves paint, rather than risk damage like a bra, so you can go back to the original paint if you want and it should be in relatively good condition. I've seen some dark color chrome wraps that offer a unique look without requiring sunglasses

Does anyone know if its possible to ceramic coat a wrap to make it last longer, prevent damage?
