Default Rear Window Hatch Value?

My '79 came with a flip up rear window hatch. I'm not sure what the official name for it is but that's what I'm calling it. I don't know if it came from an '82 CE or aftermarket.

I am going to mod the car and would like to sell the window. I've been told they are hard to come by and are worth a bit of money but I have no idea how much. Any idea what I should ask for it?

I've seen them 1500-2K, a few higher, complete with everything... The trouble will be finding someone local enough to pick it up, shipping is an issue...The hinges bring 3-4 hundred if not stretched... Yours was an aftermarket install but the same as the 82 CEs.. I have a new set of hinges and am always on the lookout for good deal on the glass, just in case... Good luck

Thanks for the info. I can build a wood crate for it to ship in. I guess I'll ask $1500 OBO and see what happens.

I can't help with price, but do you know if that is a conversion, or if the entire rear clip was swapped from an 82?

That's an 80-82 emblem on the gas filler cap, an 80-82 rear bumper cover, etc.

I don't know. The whole car is a bit of a Frankenstein car. It has an '80 and up front end and rear on it. It was originally red and the black looks good in photos but has some bad spots. It has a rebuilt title. The PO told me he got it from a guy in California who told him it was a theft recovery and was probably wrecked or banged up and they rebuilt it. Said it was a pretty nice car at one time. I guess they did the rear window conversion at the same time they did everything else. I think it is aftermarket and not from an actual '82 CE.

Thats an interesting thought, I didn't notice the emblem but I did see the bumper, I've seen bumpers retrofitted before. To replace the entire rear clip including the hatch, hinges and etc. would involve cutting the birdcage up top and probably down by the rockers as well...quite a job. I also noticed the hatch release **** is not where it is located on my 82 CE which leads me to believe its a kit made by Cars and Concepts... I actually saw a 79 with the hatch kit installed when I was looking for my last purchase but the gasket was literally flapping in the breeze and I had no interest in the car. GM actually used these kits on the CEs with slight changes... But you never know, people do strange and amazing things, back in the 70's we had a 68 Camaro with a Firebird rear end running around town and it looked good...

The marker lights on the front fenders are from 80s cars...Thats a good candidate for a custom build if it's solid... How does it run?
