Default Rear Spring bolt hole size?

I never liked the arrangement GM came up with to connect the spring to the trailing arm. I am thinking of building a spherical rod end mount and need to know if the cushion cups fit into the hole in the spring, and if so, what size is the hole? I am going to weld up a double shear rod end mount and fasten it directly to the spring with a grade 8 bolt and no bushing. On top of the trailing arm, I will use a shorter 9/16" grade 8 bolt with the urethane bushing. This will lessen the side load stress on the spring. It will look something like this.

You are a lucky man... I can only dream of the day that everything on my car is fixed and I can start improving things that are already working...lol, not being a smart ***, this weeks project was adjusting camber and ride height so I was in this area... I don't know the exact hole size plus mine is the plastic type so the ends are different but I imagine using the same size bolt as the present long one would work.
