As a retirement gift to my son, ending a 30 year career in the Air Force, the car is enroute to him in VA. I apple air-tagged the car so this morning it is sitting in Fort Smith, AR. The wife and I, after 48 years of living in southern CA, sold our home and will be gleefully heading to SC to spend our remaining years. The car had just gotten to get too difficult for me to work on. The mind was willing but the body not so much. I am happy he will have it and look forward, thanks to the great support I've received from this forum, helping him navigate the next project.
Wow, you sure are BEST Dad a guy to have to pass on your ride to your son.
When I retired from Air Force, I bought myself my dream car also Corvette C4 convertible RED was the color.
I hope he will enjoy it has much has you have all these years.
Good luck on your retirement, and SC is beautiful place to live, and make sure you go to Charleston lot of history to see and do there.
PS They also have Corvette Club, and do car shows if you have withdrawal's of the old girl.
Thanks for the kind words. We have a history in Charleston. I served there in the Air Force in the early 70's and my son was born there during our tour.
Firstly thank you for your service, secondly as a son (my father was Air Force too) of a father whom like you passed on his vette. It means the world to me to own my father's Corvette and im confident your son feels the same way.

Thank you Tom for your Service, worked on C141A&B models for over 20 years, and spent many of days TDY at Charleston great TDY, use to drive down from McGuire AFB NJ so I would have transportation to get around since most of the time either 15 to 30 day TDY, love that town with lot good restaurants choose from and always make it point when traveling now getting Quarters on base to sight see, and the wife loves the BX.
I remember in the 70s & 80s having my favorite dinner at local Seafood Place which is gone now.
Happy retirement brother! I retired this last fall, but keeping both my 66 Mustang Fastback and 76 Corvette Stingray, at least for now. I have 3 sons, many nieces and nephews, grandkids and even friends with dibs on my cars, ha. Mine are destined to go to my sons sooner or later, so I understand. Good luck in retirement! I am having SO much fun in retirement I cannot understand when people say they get bored....
That is a thoughtful gift, and generous gesture. I suspect it provided you and your wife with many great memories. Hopefully you'll be able to drive it now and then when you visit your son.

WOW, what a fantastic torch to pass !! Hope your son is an enthusiast like you are. He will always have great memories of you, the car & now new ones of his own. Well done soldier ..............
When you get to Charleston give me a shout. I live in Summerville and have an unmolested C6 and an almost 10 year restomod project '78. SO we can ride or we can wrench. And I am retired. Welcome home, Y'all.
Closing comments: Car has safely arrived in VA. I used the folks below for the transport. I highly recommend them. Friendly and courteous front office and driver did a great job keeping us up to date. They charge a flat fee for coast to coast transports. I paid $3200 for transport from San Diego to Manassas, VA.

When I purchased the car in 2014 I shipped it enclosed from FL to CA for $1800. Here in CA the gas station just down the block is selling high octane for $6.05/gal. I understand it is now costing long haulers about a 1000 bucks to fill up. Welcome to Bidenomics!
