A book on Chevy engine data. The pages are lime green. Just Google it. Easy.

Most of the same information is hosted at NastyZ28:
https://nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php

It was probably all pulled from the Lime Book at some point.

The small pad further identifies it as a 77 truck engine. 76 and earlier small blocks have a longer pad, almost as wide as the head. The 4bbl truck 350 was basically the same engine as the 73-80 Corvette's base L-48 350.

What’s to figure out? It’s a truck motor from 1977, rated at 160-165 hp, originally installed with a 4 bbl and automatic transmission. What else do you want to know?

Between the engine code TYZ and the second digit on second line being 7 it is as already stated by gbvette62, a 77 truck.

3970010 is one of the most common and longest running GM small blocks......it went from 1969 to 1979 in anything from trucks to Vette's and Camaro's.....
Can be 2 or 4 bolt main but most were 4 bolt.......
