Default 68 l89

I am hoping for some advise or direction. I have a 68 L89 Convertible all apart and missing parts. Car and engine need total rebuilds. My question is, should I sell the car and engine together(matching vins) or separately an maybe some idea of price together and separately?

Thanks for any help.

Hard to give a good idea of pricing without details and pictures, but I would for sure say sell the car and engine together

matching numbers is a good thing and should be more valuable together.

Unless it's a going to be a quality restomod (which seems to be the popular trend the past several years), the car loses significant value (especially a L89) without the original drivetrain. It would be unwise to sell them separately. In a L48 or L46-equipped SBC car, non-matching numbers devalues said car, but no where near a rare bird like the BB L89.

Unless this '68 is a complete basket case, with rusted cage/frame, body shot, missing everything, and/or you can't really document it's a real L89, etc., why would anyone think of separating a very rare combination? Kindly provide us with more details and pics - that will help the forum help you.

I would argue that even if the frame were rusted to *****, if everything else was there, the L89 would be well worth a frame/chassis restoration, despite such an expensive undertaking - IF it is a confirmed factory L89....

Fortunately or unfortunately the car is basically just a shell with the engine and trans out of the car. The car will need a total restoration. I was trying to get an idea from the forum, and I thank you, as to whether I should keep the two together since the car is basically a shell. The owner of these cars has decided to have an auction in November. We actually have 4 Corvettes, one 67 Camaro, one 64 Avanti, two 86 K5s. two 3500 Dually trucks, and hundreds of parts. All cars have been sitting in a garage for 20, 30 and 40 years and will need complete restorations. The auction will be online and I will post a link in a couple of weeks.

Extra note: The 68 body and frame are solid.

Just for reference, I bought a 69 L89 and it was also pretty much a shell.
But I believe these cars are worth the time, money, and effort.
