100% this question has been asked and answered many times.
I have completed the rebuild on my 77 Diff. The only remaining item is to check the hardness of the ends of the shafts.
Car is an Auto, not a high horsepower build and the shafts are in good condition.
Diff is all rebuilt and comes up good (good enough for me anyway LOL).
Edit. What is the hardness I am seeking?

The shafts need to be removed to check the hardness as the area of concern is the tip where they contact the posi cross shaft. Need to remove the cover and the retention clips. Not a hard job.

If you were concerned about the hardness, you should have checked BEFORE assembling the stub shafts, now take it back apart & see if they are around Rc48
