Default 69 Seatbelt Question

Hi All,

I just added shoulder retractable belts to my 69 convertible and have a question when it comes to the buckle end. The belts I got from SeatBeltPlanet came with an 8" buckle end and the ones in the car were 13" so if I use the 8-inchers and attach them to the stud at the floor behind the seat the buckle portion ends up behind the seat. In looking at the AIM (pg 132) I see what looks like a mount point at the middle of the seat (kinda hard to tell from the drawing) and before I go removing the seats and searching for another mount point I thought I'd reach out and take advantage of the vast knowledge in this group.

Does anyone know if there is another mount point somewhere mid-seat that I could use?

Thanks!!!

I recently finished a seatbelt restoration project on my ‘69 coupe.

So I’m clear, did you keep the existing lap belts and add shoulder belts? Are the lap belts original? Or, are the lap and shoulder belts both new?

Are you looking for an anchor point for the lap belts or the shoulder belts? The assembly manual has a diagram.

Is your car an early or late build ‘69? The seat belts changed over the course of the 1969 production. The Bizzoco book estimates the change occurring in around 2/69 (as I recall). For example, my 10/68 built coupe has the early build style belts. Early build lap belts are apparently incompatible with later shoulder belts.

Thanks for the response!

The shoulder belts are new from SeatBeltPlanet and I have installed the shoulder retractor end on the wheelwell -- what I need is the mount point for the buckle end. The PO did some kind of hack job and had a 13" buckle end that mounted on the transmission hump to a stud.

I'm trying to find out if there is a mid-seat mount point that would allow me to use the 8" buckle end that he says fits the car? I can't discern that from the picture I included. Right now, if I use the 8" buckle-end to the stud where the previous belt was mounted the buckle-end ends up behind the seat (making the seatbelt almost useless).

The date on trim tag is 007...which I think is October 69??

The assembly manual diagram is in this thread. Does this help?

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-a-69-c3.html

The anchor point for the lap belt must be below/underneath the seat, not behind it. There is some hardware to be attached to anchor it.

The O07 of your trim tag is October 1969. So, my seat belts are different than yours. Do the photos on the above thread help? Others here have the later designed belts, and they might be able to assist.

Another diagram that’s online. It’s similar to the assembly manual diagram.

I have a November 69 built car. The stud you are describing is the only point for mounting the inner part of the belt. The stud is attached to a metal reinforcement.

Measured my inner belt, neither 8" or 13".
