My 350 is pulled, so figured now was the time to clean up the engine bay and do a bit of painting in there. Anybody have experience with it? Is there a special paint? Anything I shouldn’t paint?
As for paint, I like SEM Trim Black (#39143). It's a medium sheen black that is close to factory. As to what not to paint, generally, if it's not attached to the firewall or inner wheel wells with a rivet then don't paint it.

I used Dupli-Color engine enamel on everything. Low gloss black, orange, silver. Filled & smoothed the firewall.
I also added a little chrome along the way....
Actually there is a special paint........a lot of different suppliers make it but it is basically called "Chassis Black" by most.......the GM # was 10150104...but IDK if it is still around...looks discontinued.....
Anyway.....it is a spray out of the container paint, requires a gun.......cheap $50 spray gun is fine......shoot it on and wait a day...takes forever to dry, but is a perfect satin black finish....and super durable.
