Default Aluminum heads

The question is to paint the new aluminum heads or leave the bare. Suggestion

I guess that's a personal decision. I left mine bare.
truthfully you don't really see much of them once everything is all assembled.
I suppose you could just paint the very fronts of them and no one would know the difference.

If you have a big block and you plan to race where aluminum heads aren’t permitted and you want to cheat, paint ‘em.

If you have a big block and the heads are Winters castings, by all means leave them bare.

If you have a small block, personal preference. If they were mine, leave them bare.

Aluminum heads are like my wifes *****, they both make me happy and they aren't cheap. Leave them bare and show off.

Have to agree, I had wanted Aluminium heads for many years, just couldn't afford them. Finally my stock heads cracked. That pushed me over the edge.
I finally got Aluminium heads after wanting them for over 20 years.
I'm gonna show them off! But you hardly see them.

Painting aluminum is tacky. I've walked away from some great deals on engines and transmissions because they'd been ruined by paint.

Valve covers are an exception.

I've been running those heads for over 6 years now. Maybe they are not the best of the best. But they are certainly an improvement over stock.
And I'm happy to report, zero issues with them.

I'm running a Xtream Energy 268H cam. 1.6-1 rockers. Shim style head gaskets with Hyper 4 cut flat top pistons.
a little over 10-1 compression.
I also run a custom curved DUI distributor, a basic EFI system on a vintage Torker single plane intake.

Nice example of a situation where adding performance and retaining the look of originality were both achieved. Blends in perfect.
