Help with engine I’d. And performance upgrade
I know it has four bolt mains, dynos at 300/300 at rear wheels and mild hydraulic lifter cam.
i hope I have attached pics of block casting number, cyl head casting, and bore scope that seems to me to be slightly dished pistons.
I am hoping to find out just what I have, and the cheapest way to gain some hp. Not racing, just a little more punch at stop lights.
I was thinking vortec heads with 64 cc chambers before I saw the dished pistons.
Thanks for your help

). The 462624 heads are 79-85 350 heads with 1.94 intake & 1.50 exhaust valves. The date on the heads (A250) identify them as 1980 heads (A - January, 25 = 25th day, 0 = 1980).My guess is that it's a standard 350 out of a 1980 Caprice, Camaro, or C10 pick up. It could be a Target Master crate engine sold by Chevrolet in the late 70's and early 80's, and later replaced by the Goodwrench 350, but based on the casting number I don't think so. The Target Master's usually had a block casting number starting with 1006xxxx and are easy to identify by the "Hecko en Mexico" (made in Mexico) cast in the block near the casting number. The Target Master was a cheap (they sold for $900-$1100 when new) 4 bolt main 350 crate engine originally intended to be a reasonably priced replacement 350 truck engine that quickly became popular as a replacement 350 for all kinds of Chevrolet powered cars.
The info on the stamp pad on the right front of the block might identify exactly what it is, but I don't know if it would make that much difference. Other then the 80 Corvette L-82, all 1980 350's, including the Target Master are basically the same engine, with the only difference being whether it had 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains.
