Hey there, I’ve been having a turn signal issue for a bit now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Basically the turn signals don’t work at all, like no indicator arrows in the car work or signals don’t work either…. But the hazards work fine. Also when I push the hazards in, then turn the blinkers on I can hear the flasher for the blinkers turn on. I have replaced the whole switch in the column, and flashers. Also checked fuses. I was wondering if there’s any grounds that would cause this? Thanks.
I am trying to understand why you would replace the entire turn signal switch without first testing the system to find the issue.
first, do your brake lights work? Your brake lights go through the signal switch.
Second, do you have power at the "dir sig bk up " fuse in the fuse panel? Power goes from fuse to flasher unit. Do you have power at the flasher can? Then power goes to the turn signal switch. It's a purple wire on my 77. Not certain on your car. Power to the harmonica connector? And down the line you go.
Do you have a proper wiring schematic for your year?
There are no grounds in the system until you get to the bulbs themselves.
I would stop throwing parts at it and get our a test light.
So I ended up finding that my temperature sender wire had come off the temp sensor. Re wired and and boom, everything works now as it should. Does anyone know how/ why this would affect my blinkers? Hoping I haven’t uncovered a rats nest of wiring problems now. Thanks everyone for your reply’s.
Your temp sensor wire clearly has absolutely nothing to do with your turn signals. So you must have wiggled something that now makes a connection.
Yes I would be concerned about the overall state of your wiring.
