Default The second second donor

A whole year later almost and I’m getting back to the 69. I had to completely renovate my bathroom in the new house cause the previous owner hid a leak from the inspectors. This took most of my time away and prevented any progress. So, 6 months later I’m able to finally get back into this hobby of mine. So updates from the last post:

-First coupe body has been disposed of

-Birdcage is saved and I have it for measurements

-Found another coupe locally, and it’s in much better shape

-In a bigger house and garage

The first order of business with this car was to start pulling everything apart. Previous molestation has put the car basically down the it’s bones….sort of. There’s a lot that was just left on. Majority of the interior, Accessory hoses and drives on the firewall, and a big entanglement of wire. There was also all of the parts to go along with the vehicle. So, I have most everything all the way to the 350 SBC (needs rebuilding) This is good because it gives me spares, I can compare to and either build a second car with or sell to recover some costs for the build.

I still have the convertible and everything with it. So, I’ll probably end up building another once this is finished when I retire in a year. Nothing has been done with the LM9 yet, but it did take a spill during the move. Landed on the water pump and head. Hard enough the gouge the concrete floor. I didn’t see much damage, but I also didn’t investigate.

The bad:

This car has also been in a wreck. I don’t know to what extent, but the front quarter is rough. I’ve found repairs to the interior fiberglass, as well as external firewall and frame. From the inside the birdcage does look solid and I don’t see any creases or re-welds. There are some typical rust spots, but I’ll investigate more once I de-bond. The frame has also been rebuilt as well. I don’t know what to do with it, but I did get some ideas from forum members. I’ll know more in the coming weeks when the body comes off. This needs to be done soon, because my storage rates keep climbing and is pissing me right off. How can you double the cost of a storage unit in less than a year?! They just changed management again so I’m expecting another rate hike.

Front: If anybody know the kit for this front end please let me know

The front end was already debonded and separated when I bought it

Back:

Helping me take inventory.

Everything removed and send to boxes

Cleared out firewall

Removed door and seats

This insulation is glued on the fiberglass

There’s a reason the car smelt like a foot
