Took the seats out and the carpet/ padding. What’s the best way to get glue and residue left over off? How do y’all clean it to prepare for new carpet/ padding?
Mine had huge globs of glue in various places where I can only guess the worker was mad at someone and was taking his anger out on the floor.
I found a scrapper blade on a reciprocating tool worked excellent and zipped through it with very little effort
It had a slight bit of a curve on the front and I smoothed off the corners a little so they couldn't dig in. They looked like this but I got it at the local discount tool place (harbour freight type thing)
And your going to put down new padding, and new carpets. Who's going to see this? It really only needs to be just so good.
I have zero glue under my front carpets, and just a bit in the rear cargo area.
And if I didn't get absolutely every bit of the old glue off. Who's gonna see?
Hi,
Good afternoon. Just another day in Paradise and it is snowing???? What happened to the early Spring?? I am in the process of putting new carpet in my '72 and the old glue was all dried up and not sticking to anything. I put 3M spray glue down and then on the back of the new carpet and you would never know the old is still there...
Have a great day,
Fred
I didn’t put any glue but did put Dynamat which covered up everything. Pity the next guy of he wants to take it up. Something you might think about while you have it all apart.
I still have the driver's side carpet to finish, but in process with this task. I installed dynamat after getting all old carpet and insulation out. The insulation was stinky just like the original carpet. I did not remove old adhesive, but cleaned up surfaces before installing dynamat then carpet.
