I was looking for a project car to work on with my brother. After a few months of doing some research on what things to look for before you buy a classic corvette. I found a corvette on Copart for 7.5k we got and didn’t have an opportunity to inspect it. We took a chance….
the interior needs work.
let me know what you think and what you would start updating or replacing.
Pop off the kick panels, they are right in front of the bottom front corner of the door where you see a little oval "vent". You should inspect the condition of the steel behind those on both the driver and passenger side.
EDIT: nevermind, I saw your post in the other thread. Happy modding!
Yes very lucky, I placed a bid for 7.5k thinking I wasn’t going to win it but I did. The first thing I checked was the birdcage, from other threads I knew that if the birdcage was rusted It wouldn't be worth fixing. But thank god the birdcage has very minimal rust nothing structurally. I think the old owner had it under a tarp. Because I don’t see much corrosion. I’ll take some pictures once I start removing the interior.
Is the paint bad for sure? I'd polish it out, slap an '80-'82 bumper painted to match and have fun while doing the rest. If it truly needs a repaint, save that for very last. How's she run?

it runs and idles great. The only thing I not sure about is when I shift it to drive it kicks a bit. But once it’s running it shift smooth. I was taking the same if I do decide to paint I would it towards the end.
Mechanicals like runs, shifts, stops and suspension would be where I would start.
you are right. When we first got her she didn’t have any brakes and the emergency brakes were seized. We did change all the brakes calipers, pads and hoses, we replaced the entire emergency brake lines. The only I am not too happy at the end is the brake paddle still feels a bit squishy, we purge the lines multiple times different ways but still didn’t get better. For now it works but thinking to maybe replace the booster pump.
I too wanted to make sure the car was running good before I dump money into it. Mechanical I think we are good only a few small things like replacing the valve cover boster, spark plugs, tight up a bit in the engine compartment.
Yeah, if the rotors aren't within spec, it causes the pistons to flutter and get air in the system. Something like that, someone smarter than me can explain it better.
Before going all investigative on your brakes; get or make a pressure bleeder. You can search the forum for how to make one with a garden sprayer.. I made one because I did not want to wait for shipping and works so wonderfully that I never got around to buying a real one. I would not even bother doing Corvette brakes without a pressure bleeder..... for that matter I don't do any of my other cars without one anymore. It just works so wonderfully.
