Default 68 Headlight Bleed

I was troubleshooting my lights going out and found the issue to be the connector at the dimmer. However, I have had an issue where when the low beams are on only, there is some bleed of the light onto the high beams. I read in another thread this was a wiring issue at the headlights where a ground was swapped with the green wire on the harness. I am curious if anyone knows more about this issue and could share how it was corrected?

Also, I notice when the high beams are on, the dimmer connector, specifically the green wires, get quite warm. Is that why many suggest converting to relays?

Here are pics of lights:

Low beams with bleed.

Hi Beams and feels like it dims the low portion. Is that normal or linked to the green/ground crossover problem?

Indeed, your wiring and switches are getting old. Causing higher resistance through the wires. Causing the heat you feel in your wiring.
converting to relays will get you better voltage to your headlights giving you brighter lights. And taking the stress off 50 year old switches.

Turns out this must have been a mis-wiring at the factory or a significant Bubba change? Hard for me to comprehend someone leaving it this way for 50 years. Using AIM and the wiring guide, I found the following wiring at the low beam bulbs:

Green - Was in Tan position (middle)
Black (Ground) - Was in Green position (passenger side)
Tan - Was in Black position (driver side)

Save for the 50 year old connector plastic that was cracked, this fixed the bleed both at the headlights and the BRIGHT dash light.

Now to rebuild the mechanics as the driver side is a bit droopy.
