I am getting ready to take my 1976 chevy corvette out of my garage and enjoy the spring /summer sunday drives with my wife . I joiined this group last year when I purchased my vette and got good respones back especially from a local fellow Randolph Neighbor on this site Forman . I am looking to get my 76 vette tuned up and ready for the road .
I would appreciate any advice where i can find a Good mechanic who knows his way around my c3 1976 vette up here in Morristown NJ.or anyone close or retired . Need the Basic full tune uP
Welcome to the forum. Any and all things Quadrajet can be worked out via @lars , you can quite literally mail the guy your carb and get it back operating like a champ. As for other aspects, are you willing to work on your car yourself, or are you looking for a mechanic to perform the work? I'm not sure myself about mechanics well- versed in C3's in NJ, but the well of knowledge on this forum runs unfathomably deep. Just ask questions and someone will know what you're talking about and get you some good responses.
Well you're in luck because Lars also has great info on timing. You can email him for his timing paper at v8fastcars@msn.com and for his services/ setting up your carb. He's the best around.
Thanks for the welcome , i am sure you will get her off thwe jacks soon . I need to do my Sunday drives - its my therapy and cheaper then seeing a doctor .
I do not know anyone who can do the work as I do it myself. If you can do everything else then you can set timing and adjust the idle mixture on the carb. If you email Lars he can send you info on how to do both. If the car is running good as it is and you are only doing it for reliability then you shouldn't have to adjust the carb or set the timing.
If you just want to get it done then I would suggest look for a service shop with a old timer working in there and not some new ASE certified grad who might not know what a carb even is,
Are you looking to do all the following?
oil change
spark plugs
ignition wires
air filter
set timing
adjust carb
thanks , what i will do then is just change teh plugs , wire , rotor , cap etc and see how it idles after that . she runs good but i just want to change all since i got it last year and put it away in the garage , so if i am lucky and do that i should have to mess with the timimg and carb.
your right , i will need to look for a more seasoned or senior mech
Talk to Glen at Hillside Corvettes in Bridgewater. He's not in Morris County but he's probably not much more than a half hour from Randolph.
Glen's been repairing/restoring nothing but Corvettes for over 30 years. Besides working on Corvettes, he's shown and road raced Corvettes, and at one time he was the Judging Chairman for the Central Jersey Chapter of the NCRS. He doesn't have a web page but if you Google "Hillside Corvettes" you'll find his Facebook page with pictures of his shop and some of the cars he's worked on. Glen's number is 732-469-0808 and if you talk to him tell him you got his number from "two N's". While he spells Glen with one "N", I spell my name with two. One N verse two N's has sort of been a running battle and joke between us for years.
I don't know why you'd need your carb rebuilt as part of a spring tune up if it was running fine when you put it away last fall, but if it does, one of the best carb shops in the country is only about 45 minutes from you in Middlesex, Custom Rebuilt Carburetors. I send all my carb work there and Glen does too. Nothing against Lars, I know he does good work and has a great reputation, but Phil at Custom Rebuilt does good work too and he's right in your backyard.
Got it , i will definitely keep this running joke with Glenn and two N's . May i ask you who Phil is or more information since hes right in my back yard .

Sorry I wasn't more clear, Phil is the owner of the carb shop in Middlesex, Custom Rebuilt Carburetors.
Cheaper is questionable, but I agree this is good therapy.
