Default Paint/Primer question
My ratty 70’ Vette is originally Bridgehampton blue. My question is, does the color of paint impact color of primer? Is it all just grey? I’m doing a mini project to clean up and fix gas lid. I bought new parts but want to repaint the lid itself. Picture is how it looks now.

Yes for the gas cap just scuff clean and spray

If you want it to come close to matching the body, you need to duplicate what's under the body's paint. Bare metal needs a primer, so go with gray.
