Welded exhaust
Restoring my car to stock original and the "welded" exhaust system is supposed to be closest to factory. Looks like it could be a bear to install the entire pipe and muffler as one assembly. Also if the bends aren't just right, it could have fitment issues.
I got the Corvette Central (individual sections) exhaust system and it bolted right onto my 68 and it fit like a dream. I used 64-65 2.5" downpipes and a heat riser spacer onto 2.5" ramhorns but the remainder was stock 2.5" intermediate pipes and mufflers. My exhaust had been different headers and fabricated pipes for 30 plus years before that. I was surprised that it fit so perfectly.
Just FYI - I later modified my tranny crossmember to let the exhaust pass under and at that point I welded the mufflers on and I welded the intermediate pipes to the downpipes. If I was going to keep going through the crossmember I would NOT have welded that connection..... BUT anyway, you can get the standard exhaust part and tweak them to fit as you like and then weld them if you so desire (but I would not weld the joint at the tranny crossmember if going through it)
I did mine with the car on Ramps. I now have a Quickjack --- wish I would have gotten Quickjack ages ago because I've done a lot of work on Ramps and Jackstands and the Quickjack is just fantastically much better.
Looks at shipping costs. I ended buying some of my exhaust parts from RPI ( https://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/category.aspx?catid=726 ) because their shipping was a lot better deal (like a LOT better)..... still the CC part numbers but you get the idea....anyway, here is the CC exhaust link. Do some comparing: https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-68-82/exhaust
