Hey guys. I’m replacing the gauges in my ‘68, and I keep finding conflicting information. I need a wire that is hot when the lights are on - to light my gauges. Where I get confused is some people call it a curtesy wire and some call it an interior wire. I thought curtesy was when you opened the door. I would check on my aftermarket radio, but it does not use a wire for illumination.
There are multiple grey leads..... each illumination lamp has it's own grey lead. Maybe I am not understanding what you are asking?
The interior "courtesy" lamps illuminate when you open the door. ALSO, when you turn the lightswitch **** fully counterclockwise BOTH the following will illuminate:
1. the interior "coutesy" lamps will illuminate
AND
2. the backlights on the dash will also illuminate.
